The Rhum Chauvet brand
Rhum Chauvet (or Compagnie des Grands Rhums Chauvet / Compagnie des Antilles) is a French rum house founded in 1886 in Le Havre (following an earlier "Liqueur des Antilles" company created in 1879). It imported, blended, and marketed rums from the French West Indies (Martinique, Guadeloupe, etc.), often aged in a tropical climate and then bottled in France.
The mention "Médaille d’Or Paris 1900" refers to an award received at the 1900 Paris Universal Exposition (a common marketing claim at the time to highlight quality). The brand continued in various forms (mergers, notably with SLAUR Chauvet and then SLAUR Sardet), and vintage bottles or labels from that era still circulate among collectors.
