This fountain is a magnificent variation of a Belle Époque late 19th-century absinthe fountain reproduction. The glass bowl is mouth-blown and the fountains are handmade.

Absinthe fountains were primarily used in high-end bars due to their high price. They were brought to the table, where the customer prepared the absinthe themselves. Absinthe fountains were (and still are) the preferred way to prepare absinthe, as you can perfectly control the flow of water. But unfortunately, due to accidents, very few fountains have survived intact with their original glass bowl.

The proper way to use it is to pour an ounce of absinthe into an absinthe glass, then place an absinthe spoon over the glass and a sugar cube on the spoon. Remove the fountain lid and add fresh water and ice cubes to the glass bowl. The spigot is turned slightly and the ice-cold water drips slowly from the fountain onto the sugar cube. The cold, sugar-sweetened water then drips from the spoon into the absinthe glass, releasing oils and scenting the air with fennel, grand wormwood, and anise. The combination also begins to turn a milky white color as the water mixes with the anise. Refresh the water before each use.

The fountain can accommodate 1 to 4 people at a time. The drink ratio varies from 1 part absinthe to 3 to 5 parts water, depending on individual preference.
