Duchesse Absinthe was a Lyonnais absinthe brand created at the end of the 19th century by Étienne Brunier fils & Cie. 

The firm Michel Brunier et Frères (founded circa 1859-1874) was a renowned Lyonnais distillery, specializing in spirits, particularly absinthe and anise-flavored drinks. It was first located at 28 Quai des Brotteaux, then from 1880 at 138-140 Cours Lafayette. 

In 1895, one of the sons, Étienne Brunier, left the family business to found his own company: Étienne Brunier fils & Cie, located at 29-31 Cours Vitton (Lyon 6th arrondissement). He is the one who launched the Absinthe Duchesse brand.
