J.GAU Castres Salt Shaker

Advertising salt shaker (or bistro/advertising salt shaker) made of white tin, dating from between the early and mid-20th century.

This is an advertising item distributed or sold to promote the "J. GAU" distiller. These salt shakers (often accompanied by matching pepper shakers) were very common in French cafés, restaurants, and households of that era. They served as both a tabletop utensil and a subtle promotional medium.
