Dufour Peas lithographed tin

A. Dufour & Cie is a Bordeaux cannery specializing in prepared (canned) extra-fine peas.

The gold tin bears a coat of arms and the label “Extra-fins”: a high-end caliber, very small and tender peas, the star of gourmet grocery stores around 1900-1930, at a time when canned vegetables competed with fresh produce out of season.

The firm does not have the renown of Amieux or Cassegrain; it is a regional brand from the Gironde, now defunct, of which mostly these advertisements remain.
