A little history
• The Amieux family, originally from the Hautes-Alpes, settled in Brittany in the mid-19th century. Maurice-Étienne Amieux (1807-1865) was a pioneer in the canning industry.
• In 1866, his sons founded Amieux Frères in Nantes. The company quickly became a canning giant (sardines, vegetables, etc.), with several factories in Brittany and the Vendée.
• At the beginning of the 20th century, it diversified and launched, among other things, jams and chocolates (under the Amieux and St Clair brand names).
• A chocolate and jam factory operated on Rue Paul-Bert, in the Chantenay district of Nantes. It was in operation until about 1955. The building later served as a training center before being demolished in 1988.
